Endless Shift

Lucas started his first night as a security guard in the old, abandoned warehouse. The place was quiet, too quiet. Armed with just a flashlight, he walked the aisles, the creaks and groans of the building putting him on edge.

Then he heard it—a wet, chopping sound. Heart racing, he shone his flashlight ahead and saw a figure. A man in a blood-soaked apron holding a massive cleaver.

The Butcher.

The figure turned to him, eyes hollow and cold. Lucas didn’t think. He ran. The sound of heavy boots followed him, faster and louder.

He reached the exit, threw himself through the doors, and slammed them shut. The footsteps stopped.

Lucas didn’t look back. He wouldn’t return.  will he?
